The Center opened in May of 2009 as a response
to the critical community need for services in the early detection
of breast cancer, cervical cancer and prostate cancer. The
mission of The Center is twofold:
- Providing access for local residents to cervical, mammography,
and prostate screening
- Providing educational information regarding early detection
and prevention services
Our Services:
- Pap tests
- Mammograms
- PSA blood testing
- Home visits
- Coordination with other health care agencies for the
provision of treatment services
- Assisting clients with transportation
- Education in cancer awareness, detection and prevention
- Payment for advanced testing when necessary
What have we accomplished since May 2009?
- More than 100 local women have had mammograms done (at
a free or reduced cost
- More than 250 local women have received initial breast
screening examinations
- More than 450 pelvic exams and PAP tests have been performed
- More than 40 local residents have been provided transportation
to Mexicali for advanced testing or medical services
Funding:
All of the funding for the services provided by The Center
is the result of:
- Individual donations
- Contributions from local and State agencies
- Money donated through the annual San Felipe Walk Against
Cancer(Caminata Contra el Cancer)
- A Rotary Club of San Felipe grant from the Rotary International
Foundation
- A mammogram machine and equipment donation from the Rotary
Club of Clayton Valley/Concord Sunrise - California, U.S.A.
- Cooperation and Support from Club Las Amigas, San Felipe
Association of Retired Persons and the Rotary Club of San
